Swallows

Welcome to Swallows Class!

Swallows Class are our Year 3 and 4 children.

Mrs Robinson is the class teacher on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Hopkin is the class teacher on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

We are supported by our wonderful Teaching Assistants Mrs Moss and Mrs Worsfold.

We are Swallows Class and we soar high together!

Summer Term 2024

History - this term we are learning about out 'local area'.  The children enjoyed listening to  Mrs Rush talk about Yattendon School when she was teaching here 30 years ago.  They were fascinated by the typewriter and enormous computer and television!

We have made timelines of the school history and also researched how far back we could find evidence of civilisation in Yattendon.

English

Art - we are learning about the French artist Rosa Bonheru who was a bit of a rebel in her era, wearing trousers in public and cutting her hair short.  She was fascinated by animals, which can be seen in both her paintings and sculptures.  The children found inspiration in the natural world making their own 2d sculptures.

RE - Swallows are exploring 'the Creation' in Christianity.  We listened to 'A wonderful world' by Louis Armstrong and looked for wow inspiration in our natural world.

Science - We have been looking at States of Matter and investigating solids, liquids and gases.

Host Country

We have some exciting countries that we will learn about this year!

Autumn Term- Thailand

Spring Term- Norway

Summer Term- The Gambia

Reading for Pleasure

We love reading in Swallows Class! Whether we're reading in our reading corner,  exploring books in our cosy library or sharing our class text during story time, we are always enjoying a good book.

Not sure which book to read next at home? Try using this book tube map to choose your next reading adventure!

Times Tables

By the end of Year 4, our children are expected to recall all times table facts up to 12 x 12.

Each week, we focus on one or two times table facts to learn. These are at the top of the weekly math home learning so they can be learnt at home too.

Below are some useful websites to help learn times table facts in fun ways.
